And we’re off!

My last days of working for the IOV at BVE ended in mixed emotions!

Sad‘ because I genuinely loved my IOV days and the separation is only just starting to sink in.

Flattered‘ as I was overwhelmed by the number of kind comments received from members and industry contacts – which were very, very much appreciated. (PS – it was a great goodbye drink on Tues guys).

Excited‘ at the number of offers of work – including three corporate videos, two regular freelance writing positions and two regular blogger positions.

Hungry‘ for more of the above!!!

I guess this is it – I’m now on my new path!

I told them we needed a bigger stand!!!

BVE organisers have to re-build the IOV stand overnight because it was SO busy the theatre audience was spilling out causing the H&S officer to have a hissing fit. It will be interesting to see what they have managed to do when we get in this morning.

Edit Suite fired up

All cables connected and tested – and the edit suite is installed in my #mancave

Also had the new land line installed (make a note +44 (0) 203 602 3356) – which pretty much means that I’m now ready for business.  Well – that’s when I get back from a weekend of fun and frolics in Amsterdam with Tiff and friends – and then three days at BVE at Earls Court.

So – after Thursday next week its all hands to the pump!  If you are looking for an edit facility in Loughton, Essex (or indeed a fully kitted out DSLR camera operator) let me know!

Voice fantastic!

Here’s the last review I carried out whilst editor of the IOV’s Focus magazine – the EditorsKeys Portable Vocal Booth Pro 2 (click on the picture below for the PDF).  This was probably one of the most useful bits of kit I looked at over 17-years!  Its mine now – and its going to take pride of place in the edit suite once its sorted.

No points for guessing who the model was for the front cover!

Where have all the emails gone?

Day two being ‘post-IOV’ and I underestimated the number of emails I was dealing with throughout the day.

I must admit that I’m feeling a bit twitchy about it at the moment but I’m sure that will pass.  If you can get e-withdrawal then I have it.  Apart from the daytime stuff it was the continual stream of emails that come into the IOV overnight.  You could of course just ignore these at the time – but then you’d lose most of the following morning catching up.

I hope Sarah and Matt (the new admin team) and coping with the onslaught.  They seem to be doing a great job.
