Watching paint dry

Filmed the Eiger Safety (www.eiger-safety.co.uk) abseiling crew doing their thing at the Science Museum last night – this time with a paint brush in their hand dangling on ropes in a lift shaft.

These guys are seriously fit – and I don’t mean good looking!  Whilst it might look like they are just hanging around, there’s a fair bit of exertion in keeping yourself hanging in the right place so you can do the job you’re supposed to be doing.

This was the first filming session of many for Eiger Safety.  We’re going to be filming at Claridge’s on Monday – and we’ll then be doing a recce on another load of London locations on Wednesday.

I could get used to this corporate film making malarkey!

PS.  If anyone has a good mouse killing cat they don’t want they should get in touch with the museum.  As soon as the punters were chucked out the museum came alive with mice – which seemed to appear from every crack and crevice.

All my bags are packed…

No, I’ve not gone all John Denver on you, I’ve just got everything together for my first corporate filming day tomorrow.

When I say “day” I actually mean night as I’ll be filming an abseiling company working in a stair well at the Science Museum.  Things obviously have to be done at night when the museum is closed to the public.  Hey – that sounds like a great plot for a film come to think of it!

Have a meeting with the MD beforehand to go through some of the other “challenging” locations we’ll be filming and photographing over the coming weeks (the roof on Oxford’s Christchurch Cathedral and the Clifton Suspension Bridge – to name but two).

Its a great one to get under my belt and the company (Eiger Safety – http://eiger-safety.co.uk/) are a great bunch of guys who are extremely talented and brave.  They are no strangers to the world of film/tv production either as they do a lot of the high-level risk work for the UK-based film studios (Harry Potter included).

Will keep you all updated on the progress on this one.  And before anyone says it, I won’t look down!

My best and worst work so far.

I think I must be one of those idiot savants!

Having spent a good few days building a database of contacts for all my local businesses, and then writing one of the most creative and imaginative introductory letters that I have ever read (even if I say so myself!) – I discover after sending them all out that I got one digit wrong on my mobile number.  Even though the letter included my correct land-line number, email and website – I still feel like a proper numpty!

Having said that – the letter has resulted in no less than three corporate video enquiries so far – and it only landed yesterday!  Two are for local businesses and the other for one of our local council offices.  I’m so pleased I’ve almost already forgiven myself for my stupidity.

Anyone reading this who got that letter and failed to get me on my mobile, it should have been 0777 153 5692.

Cobbler’s shoes

Probably the bravest thing I’ve ever done, but this week’s challenge is to get a short promo video produced on… us!

Have a rather stunning looking young lady coming to the studio tomorrow evening to shoot a talking head piece to camera – which will basically explain what Video Artisan is all about and how we can help companies rise up the search engine rankings, communicate more effectively and start harnessing the power of video.

I’m not going to rush things but there’s some urgency about this as I’ve got 400 letters going out this week telling local businesses that they should look at our website – and we need to put our money where our mouth is!
